Vertical Load Carrying SystemConcrete fill over steel deck on steel beams and columns supported on rubber bearings
Lateral Force Resisting SystemConcentrically-braced steel frames (above Level 1) and concrete shear walls (below Level 1) isolated by rubber bearings with lead cores and slider bearings at the base. Two buildings have the same base slab supported on bearings, but are separated at floors above the base with seismic joints.
Foundation TypeConcrete spread footings with grade beams.
RemarksStructural design was based on the 1995 California Building Code. Funding for instrumentation was provided by the owner as required by OSHPD. CSMIP provided assistance in instrumentation.
