Instrumentation1999. 15 accelerometers, on 4 levels in the building. 3 accelerometers at a reference free-field site.
 
Vertical Load Carrying System12" thick reinforced concrete flat slab supported by pile caps at the 1st floor. 2.5" to 5.5" thick concrete over 3" metal deck supported by steel beams and columns for the remaining floors.
Lateral Force Resisting SystemMultiple steel moment frames in both directions from 1st to 3rd story. Steel braced frames and moment frames in the penthouse.
Foundation Type14" square precast, prestressed concrete piles up to 64' long. Individual columns and frames are supported on groups of 1 to 46 piles. Building columns are connected to the pile caps with steel base plates and anchor bolts.
RemarksThis building houses the Police Administration and 911 Response Center. It is located roughly 150' east of the Hayward Fault. It was designed as per 1991 UBC.
